Session Audio Helps Clinicians
Clinicians undergoing AF-CBT training are often a bit wary of submitting recordings of their treatment sessions to be reviewed by their trainer. Most people are a bit nervous about being recorded in general, let alone when practicing new skills in session with a client; to have their performance reviewed by their trainer is an added bit of pressure.
But, of 297 trainees surveyed about their consultation experiences, 24 specifically cited these audio recordings as being helpful to their training, whether it was having their trainer listen to their treatment audio or being able to hear samples of fellow clinicians’ sessions. Even more (47) found that presenting on their cases and hearing the case presentations of others helped them learn to use AF-CBT effectively. Though most clinicians wouldn’t jump at the chance to record their sessions for review, it’s clear that doing so helps trainers provide effective, tailored feedback that helps clinicians build their skills.
